JEMA is one European leader in the supply of power converter systems for the highest-level installations: atomic particle and nuclear fusion research laboratories; quality grid solutions, test benches, railways, etc.

These markets are known for their exclusivity and high demands, involving the development of unique, complex, cutting-edge solutions, often at the limit of what can be achieved using today’s existing technology.

Customers are major private or public companies as well as international organisations: CERN, EFDA, CIEMAT, UKAEA, CRPP, DESY, GSI, RAL, SNCF, Eurotunnel, NASA, etc. Contracts are awarded through tenders restricted to a very limited number of previously approved companies, in which JEMA is in competition with large multinational companies.

Achieving this level has required of JEMA many years of effort, know-how and commitment, as well as putting the highest level of technical knowledge onto the market.

The most significant features of these products include:

• unique systems, for specific, occasional application and supply, covering very particular customer needs.
• complex management, long delivery time and high-cost projects, with a considerable number of design tasks: calculations, simulations, tests, etc. Very demanding and meticulous permanent relationship with the customer, justifying and approving each technical decision and partial design.
• very special features: extreme operating conditions, high and unusual voltages and intensities, redundancies, high precision, high performance control, high quality, aggressive environments, bulky equipment, associated logistic problems, etc.
• application of innovative technologies, components and materials, with little or no previous user experience, demanding a wide knowledge of what is available on the market.
• high level of operating security: highly reliable operation must be ensured, as well as anticipating all kinds of protection against exceptional or critical situations and risks that might affect the personnel handling the system.
• the highest level of documentation and customer training, including the supply of developed software source codes.
